Biographie
Tilhenn Klapper est une artiste plasticienne et performeuse franco-américaine, diplômée des Beaux-Arts de Paris et de Sciences Po Paris, où elle a rédigé en 2018 un mémoire de master sur les pratiques écoféministes. Elle prépare actuellement un doctorat par la pratique au SACRe (ENS/Beaux-Arts de Paris). Tilhenn Klapper a reçu la bourse DanceWeb (Autriche) en 2021 et le prix MAIF Métamorphose pour l’art écologique, aux côtés de son collectif crème soleil, en 2026. Elle a présenté son travail dans des lieux tels que le MUDAM (Luxembourg, LU), le Théâtre National de Chaillot (Paris, FR), le Kanal Centre Pompidou (Bruxelles, BE), la Galerie Thaddaeus Ropac (Pantin, FR), le Centre culturel tchèque (Paris, FR), etc. En 2025, elle a été sélectionnée pour le programme de résidence In Situ sur la transition écologique organisé par la Fondation Carasso à la Cité internationale des arts à Paris, et a été invitée à une résidence à l’Institut Cemeti à Yogyakarta (IDN) par l’Institut français en Indonésie. Au printemps 2026, elle a participé à des expositions collectives aux Magasins Généraux (75), à la Cité internationale des arts (75) et au Cimetière parisien.
Artist statement
J’ai grandi en Bretagne au sein d’une famille de guérisseurs et j’ai été formée par ma mère à la phytothérapie traditionnelle. Mon travail d’artiste s’inscrit dans le domaine de l’écologie politique, que je mets en dialogue avec la spiritualité et les savoirs populaires. Je crois que la perte de biodiversité et les comportements violents envers les formes de vie non humaines sont dus à un mode de vie urbain, individualiste et déconnecté de la terre, qui nous coupe de notre sentiment d’appartenance à un monde qui dépasse l’humain et le visible. Je développe ainsi une pratique de performances collectives mêlant danse et musique, ainsi que des projets en bois à différentes échelles, afin de mettre en avant les questions de résistance et de régénération à travers des efforts collectifs et des expériences esthétiques et spirituelles.

Biography
Tilhenn Klapper is a French-American visual artist and performer, a graduate of the Beaux-Arts de Paris, and Sciences Po Paris, where she wrote a master's thesis on ecofeminist practices in 2018. She is currently pursuing a practice-based PhD at SACRe (ENS/Beaux-Arts de Paris). Tilhenn Klapper was awarded the DanceWeb Grant (Austria) in 2021 and the MAIF Metamorphosis Prize for ecological art, along with her collective crème soleil in 2026. She has presented her work in venues such as MUDAM (Luxembourg, LU), le Théâtre National de Chaillot (Paris, FR), Kanal Centre Pompidou (Bruxelles, BE), Galerie Thaddaeus Ropac (Pantin, FR), Centre culturel tchèque (Paris, FR), etc. In 2025, she was selected in the In Situ residency program on ecological transition run by the Carasso Foundation at the Cité Internationale des Arts in Paris, and was invited for a residency at the Cemeti Institute in Yogyakarta (IDN) by the French Institute in Indonesia. In the spring of 2026 she participated to group shows at Les Magasins Généraux (75), the Cité Internationale des Arts (75) and the Cimetière parisien de Pantin with POUSH (93).
Artist statement
I grew up in Brittany in a family of healers and was trained by my mother in traditional herbal medicine. My work as an artist engages with the field of political ecology, which I brings into dialogue with spirituality and vernacular knowledge. I believe that biodiversity loss, and violent behaviors towards non human lives is due to an urban individualist and off-ground lifestyle that cuts us from our sense of belonging to a more-than-human and more-than-visible world. I thus develop a practice of collective performances in dance and music, and wood projects of various scales, to bring forward questions of resistance and regeneration through collective endeavors, esthetic and spiritual experiences.
